A Note from the Beach
Pre-Task 1:
- Collecting ideas: “Items you can find in the ocean”

Pre-Task 2:
- Students choose one of the items. (The item they will write about.)
- Students search for their item and fill in their answers in the questionaire.

- Students write a poem or creative text (diary entry) in the perspective of their item. They are allowed to use the information found on the internet.
- Scaffolding: The main scaffolding item is the poem by Matt Haig. However, students who need more scaffolding can be given chunks.

- Early finishers: “Write your poem on a nice piece of paper or a poster. If you are done with that, you can creatively beautify the poster.
Outlook and Post Task – “Let’s reflect”:
- In order to be creative, it is important to give the students enough time to imagine and work on the text. They can work on it for the rest of the lesson.
- As a post task (whether you do it at the end of the lesson or the next session) will be a reflection of the poems. The students need to discuss why it is important to change perspectives (think on different scales) and what they have learned through the process.
- Before or after that, of course, the poems and texts can be presented to appreciate the work and gain many different impressions of different items in the sea.
